Inner vs outer tie rod ends: which reference do you need?
Identify the connection point before preparing a steering linkage sourcing request.
01. Inner connection
The inner tie rod connects at the steering rack side of the linkage. Thread, length and joint configuration vary by application and should be checked against the correct reference.
02. Outer connection
The outer tie rod end connects toward the steering knuckle. Left and right versions may differ, so specify the side and vehicle application in the request.
03. Details for a sourcing list
Include the OE number, vehicle model, production year, axle and side. Do not assume that a similar thread or overall appearance establishes interchangeability.
04. Installation and alignment
Steering components require professional assessment and installation. Follow the vehicle manufacturer’s service information for the applicable inspection and alignment requirements.
